I created this blog in order to sell typewriters in advance of Herman's 2018. (That's the collectors' meeting on Oct. 19-21, 2018, near Morgantown, West Virginia. More info on Facebook or from Herman Price, typewriter.museum@gmail.com.) These typewriters will not be shipped; you can pick them up either at Herman's or at my house in Cincinnati.
All the typewriters have been listed simultaneously; no more typewriters will be listed. I've tried to state the main facts about every machine, including any major flaws. Please assume that there may be other minor, typical signs of age, and that the typewriter may need cleaning, minor adjustments, and a new ribbon. If the buyer or I discover a major defect after the typewriter has sold, of course the buyer may cancel the sale or offer me a lower price.
I've listed the opening bid for each typewriter. If you are interested, place a bid by commenting on the post. (No other comments or questions, please; you can e-mail me at polt@xavier.edu with those, and if I think the general public should know the answer, I will post it in the comments myself.)
Every new bid must be at least $5 over the previous bid. Anything less than that will be ignored by me, and may be ignored by subsequent bidders.
I may delete any invalid bids or comments other than bids.
I recommend checking the "Notify me" box when you bid, so that you'll receive an e-mail if a new bid is posted. (If you do not see this box, try using a different browser. It appears in Firefox, for instance, but not in Safari.)
Each typewriter will sell to whoever posts the highest bid before 10:00 pm Eastern time on Friday, October 12. (Bids posted at 9:59 pm will be accepted, those posted at 10:00 or later will not.) If more than one person post high bids for the same amount, the first bid posted wins. It is your responsibility to check to see whether you've won.
I request that you pay me by a PayPal "friends and family" payment to polt@xavier.edu within 48 hours after the end of the auction, including a note telling me which typewriter(s) you are buying. If we know each other personally and PayPal is a problem for you, I'll accept a check or cash when you get the typewriter.
